What Is a Gate Valve?
A gate valve is a linear-motion valve that uses a flat or wedge-shaped gate (disc) that moves perpendicular to the fluid flow to start or stop flow. When fully open, the gate is completely withdrawn from the flow path, providing an unobstructed passage with virtually zero pressure drop — making gate valves the ideal choice for on/off isolation in straight-line pipeline applications.
Gate valves are among the most widely used valve types in industrial piping due to their bi-directional capability, minimal flow resistance, and ability to handle a wide range of fluids including viscous oils, slurries, and high-temperature steam. They are used in oil & gas transmission, power generation, water distribution, fire protection, refining, and chemical processing.
✅ TANGGONG VALVE GROUP has manufactured industrial gate valves since 1990 at our facility in Wenzhou, China — "China's Valve Capital." We hold API 600, API 603, CE, TUV, and ISO 9001:2015 certifications. All gate valves are factory-tested to API 598 shell test and seat leakage standards before shipment.
